Responsibilities of a house guest:

When arriving by car at a time when a meal is not likely to be served, guests should eat before they come so the hosts don't feel pressured to cook.

Throughout the visit, guests should be neat and go with the flow of the household. Visitors should also be quiet when moving around the house early in the morning or late at night when hosts are asleep.

Beds should be made, sofa beds returned to sofa status, luggage orderly and closed, towels and washcloths hung, tub rinsed, lavatory dry, toilet lid closed, and toilet articles housed in luggage.

See, I wouldn't. I think it's only polite that if you're going to live (even overnight) in someone else's house, you clean up after yourself and help out the host and/or hostess by leaving the place as clean as when you arrived.

Maybe that's the Girl Scout in me and having "always leave your camp site cleaner than when you got it".
